Terms of Independent Auditing
Effective Date: June 2026
These Terms of Independent Auditing ("Terms") govern the relationship between PetScore and any corporate entity ("Brand" or "Client") seeking our auditing and certification services.
1. Algorithmic Independence
PetScore operates on a strict, proprietary, and data-driven risk-assessment algorithm. Our commitment is to absolute transparency and biological integrity. Therefore:
- No Pay-to-Play: Brands cannot purchase a higher score. Our evaluations are blind and mathematical.
- Methodology Updates: PetScore reserves the right to update its algorithm based on new nutritional science. Brands will be notified of any criteria shifts.
2. Certification and Seal Licensing
The PetScore color-coded grading system (A to E) and its visual seals are the exclusive intellectual property of PetScore.
- Usage Rights: A Brand may only display the PetScore seal on packaging, marketing materials, or digital platforms after signing a valid Licensing Agreement with us.
- Formula Alterations: If an audited Brand alters the ingredient formulation of a certified product, the certification is immediately void. The product must be submitted for re-auditing to maintain the seal.
3. Right to Publish
PetScore reserves the right to independently audit and publish the scores of any pet food product that is publicly available on the retail market, based on its public labeling, to ensure consumer transparency.
4. Limitation of Liability
Our audits are based on the ingredient declarations provided by the Brand or available publicly. PetScore is an independent auditing body, not a veterinary or medical authority.
- We do not guarantee or claim any medical or curative properties of the audited products.
- PetScore is not liable for any financial losses, market positioning changes, or damages a Brand may claim as a result of our objective scoring.
